GIMP is a free image editing software, kind of like PHOTOSHOP, but without the price tag.

That is a really nice list you put together. It is so amazing to see how much great GIMP resources are available for free. It makes me wonder why people spend money on Photoshop + classes.

Is GIMP better then Adobe Photoshop CS3? and if one is already good in photoshop, how much effort is required to get into the world of gimp?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:43 am
@crashsystems-Glad you enjoyed the list.
@celina-Probably not better than CS3, however, I havent had one thing I could only do in photoshop and not GIMP.
Regarding the ease of use, if you have used photoshop then using GIMP should be fairly intuitive.

Drew

For those of you who didn’t know, GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. GNU is a recursive acronym for GNU is Not Unix. Unix is… (this could go on for a while).
There’s also a portable version for those of you who like to take your apps with you.
http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/gimp_portable
I might warn you though that it’s rather large and tends to be I/O heavy so it could decrease the life of your flash memory.
